Learning Solutions FAQs

  • How do I access funding for learning and development?

    Funding is available to Employers who commit to an Apprenticeship Standard with an approved Training Provider, such as Davies Learning Solutions. There are a wealth of Standards to choose from, we provide over 20 but the full list can be found here and each has a ‘funding band’, i.e. the maximum amount of funding to deliver. Once you have decided you can apply to reserve funding.

  • We don’t pay into the levy, can we still access funding?

    Yes you can for up to 10 employees at any one time. Apply to reserve funding by following this guide. You will need to contribute up to 5% of the funding depending on the age of your apprentice.

  • Are Apprenticeships for young people?

    Not necessarily. Apprenticeships can be used to support the development of existing employees of any age.

  • Is there a minimum salary for apprentices?

    The salary of an apprentice is entirely at the Employer’s discretion, so for existing staff, existing salaries would remain in place. Apprentice minimum wages may be relevant for employers recruiting school leavers, but knowledge of local competitive market conditions to attract the right calibre candidate may be more appropriate.

  • What time commitment do I have to make as an Employer?

    Every person on an apprenticeship programme needs to be given 20% Off The Job (OTJ) learning time in order to attend their – coaching sessions, revision workshops, assimilate learning and complete related development work. Your apprentice provider will run all aspects of the programme and keep your time commitment to a minimum, but we would strongly advise regular catch-ups & reviews between coach, line manager and apprentice to check progress & align objectives.

  • How do I choose a reputable Training Provider?

    Every Apprenticeship provider is rated by OFSTED. Also look for a provider that carries the ‘Top 50 Training Provider’ award as voted for by the Rate My Apprenticeship scheme. This is based on feedback from real apprentices. Look for a provider who is a specialist in the area you want to focus on (For example Davies Learning Solutions is specialist in Insurance, Financial Services and Business Solutions) and also look for recommendations via the Government website or The Apprenticeship Directory.

  • Will the training be done at my place of work?

    Currently, in response to COVID-19 all our apprenticeships are being delivered virtually. These include online group classrooms and 1:1 coaching sessions, mostly using Teams or Zoom. We hope to return to some face-to-face delivery in early 2021.

  • Can you help me find an Apprentice?

    If you are looking to hire an Apprentice we can help with a free recruitment service whereby your advert will be placed on the Government website. We will support your recruitment by pre-screening applications and the organising interviews, or deliver a more advanced Academy service – learn more here.
